The Office for Women (OfW) sought applications from community sector representatives to participate in the official Australian Government delegation to the 55th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 55)
In 2011 the Australian Government Office for Women is supporting the participation of three community sector representatives. The community sector representatives will be important members of the Australian delegation to CSW and provide advice to the delegation from non-government perspectives. Flights to and from New York, accommodation and meal allowance are funded by the Australian Government Office for Women.
The Office for Women announced the outcome of the selection process. It was a very competitive process, and OFW was pleased with the calibre and wealth of experience of every applicant.
The successful women are
Elaine Butler from Women in Adult and Vocational Education (WAVE)
Christina Ryan from Advocacy for Inclusion and Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA).
OfW also announced that in consultation with the Indigenous Leadership and Engagement Group, FaHCSIA,
Jahna Cedar from Cedar Consultancy Enterprise has also been selected to participate on the Australian Delegation to CSW 55 as an Advanced Leadership Opportunity.

For those applicants who were unsuccessful, OfW spoke if the value of the input into the CSW process by all the applicants and strongly encourage them to continue participating.
