HIGH-LEVEL INTERGOVERNMENTAL MEETING TO REVIEW REGIONAL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE BEIJING PLATFORM FOR ACTION AND ITS REGIONAL AND GLOBAL OUTCOMES 16-18 November 2009
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) will convene a High-level Intergovernmental Meeting (HLM) to review the regional implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing, 1995) and the outcome of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly (2000) for the ESCAP region, from 16-18 November 2009 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok.
All Regional Commissions are organizing regional reviews, the outcome of which will be the regional input into the global review and appraisal of the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action, to be carried out by the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women at its fifty-fourth session in March 2010.
In order to obtain information on progress made in the last five years in implementing the Platform for Action, ESCAP sent a questionnaire to its Member States. The completed questionnaires received from Member States, as well as information from ESCAP’s expert group meeting in preparation for the High-Level Intergovernmental Meeting to Review Progress made on Implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and information about the Asia-Pacific NGO Forum on Beijing +15 could be found in the following links:
